Melilla, 15-05-2008A las 12:30 de hoy los inmigrantes argelinos e hindues han registrado en la Delegación del Gobierno de Melilla un escrito solicitando la apertura de negociaciones para encontrar una salida digna a su situación.
El estado físico de los concentrados está sufriendo un deterioro evidente.

A LA DELEGACIÓN DEL GOBIERNO EN MELILLA:
EXCMO. SR. DELEGADO DEL GOBIERNO:
Los abajo firmantes, ciudadanos de India y de Argelia, respetuosamente EXPONEN:
1.- Que permanecen retenidos en el CETI de Melilla desde hace más de dos años.
2.- Que nuestro único deseo y la razón de nuestro proceso migratorio es lograr un medio de vida que nos permita sobrevivir dignamente a nosotros y nuestras familias.
3.- Que durante el largo periodo de permanencia en el CETI han procurado aprender castellano y han realizado todas las acciones formativas que se les han propuesto con el objetivo de lograr la mayor integración posible en la sociedad española.
4.- Que es imposible continuar la situación actual de forma indefinida. Nadie debe ser privado de su derecho a desplazarse ni de su derecho a trabajar durante un periodo de tiempo tan largo. Más cuando del ejercicio de ese derecho depende la supervivencia de nuestras familias.
5.- Que desde hace cuatro días permanecen en huelga de hambre en la Plaza de España de Melilla como última alternativa posible para que nuestras justas aspiraciones sean tenidas en cuenta y, se establezca el cauce de diálogo necesario para terminar con la actual situación de estancamiento.
Por todo ello SOLICITAN:
Que se ponga fin a la situación actual de permanencia indefinida en el CETI y que se nos traslade a la península lo antes posible.

THE HUNGER-STRIKERS ASSEMBLED IN THE PLAZA DE ESPAÑA REQUEST AN INTERVIEW WITH THE DELEGATION OF THE GOVERNMENT
At 12.30 today, the Algerian and Indian migrants formally submitted a written document to the Delegation of the Government in Melilla asking for the opening of negotiations to find a decent solution to their situation.
The physical state of the participants in the hunger-strike is clearly deterioriating.
Here is a translation of the literal copy of the submitted document:

TO THE DELEGATION OF THE GOVERNMENT IN MELILLA:
HIS EXCELLENCY, THE DELEGATE OF THE GOVERNMENT:
We the undersigned citizens of India and Algeria respectfully SUBMIT:
1. That we have remained detained in Melilla for over two years.
2. That our only goal and the reason for our migratory process was to find a way of life that would permit us and our families to survive with dignity
3. That during our long period of our residence in the CETI we have done our best to learn Spanish and have taken part in all the learning courses that we were given, with the objective of achieving the best possible integration into Spanish society
4. That it is impossible for us to continue indefinitely in our current situation. No one should be deprived of the right to move nor of the right to work for such a long period of time. This is of particular importance when the the survival of our families depends on the exercise of these rights.
5. That for four days now we have been on hunger strike in the Plaza de España in Melilla as our last possible option in order to ensure that our fair aspirations are taken into account and that a necessary channel of dialogue be established to end our situation, which is at a standstill.
For reason of all of the above, we REQUEST:
That an end be put to the current situation of an indefinite stay in the CETI and that we be transferred to the peninsula at the earliest possible opportunity.
