La asociación PRODEIN concede un premio a aquellas personas o colectivos que se significan en la lucha por los derechos humanos y que por ello sufren algún tipo de persecución.
Dicho premio no tiene periodicidad alguna, se concede solo en aquellas ocasiones en que algún Gobierno de nuestro entorno intenta impedir dicha actividad por métodos violentos o mafiosos.
En la anterior edición (año 2004) se concedió a las Hermanas Vedruna de Ceuta por su valiente apoyo a los inmigrantes y menores extranjeros que llegaban a la ciudad teniendo que soportar por ello un injustificado acoso institucional.
Recientemente se ha hecho pública la grave situación que atraviesan los trabajadores de los medios de comunicación españoles en Marruecos, así como los periodistas marroquíes, los cuales cada vez con más frecuencia han de enfrentarse a fuertes multas e incluso penas de cárcel por ejercer la libertad de expresión.
Desde hace meses conocíamos las presiones, chantajes y amenazas que vienen sufriendo periodistas españoles en ese país y que han aumentado exponencialmente hasta el punto de sufrir asaltos en sus domicilios con robo de ordenadores y documentación, juramentos forzados en despachos oficiales, amenazas de expulsión, trato denigrante etc.
Por ello y en representación del colectivo de trabajadores de la prensa que sufren persecución en Marruecos queremos entregar nuestro premio 2008 a la corresponsal de La Vanguardia y La Cadena Ser: CARLA FIBLA.
Carla Fibla lleva años realizando un excelente trabajo en Marruecos y es hoy una de las profesionales mejor conocedoras de la realidad del país vecino y de todo el Magrebh, es también una persona amante del pueblo marroquí contribuyendo sin lugar a dudas de forma muy importante al mejor conocimiento y comprensión entre los pueblos de ambas orillas del Mediterraneo. Durante años a facilitado información diaria y objetiva sobre temas tan preocupantes como el de la realidad de la inmigración en Marruecos o la cuestión del Sahara, realizando su trabajo inmersa en un sistema político hostil donde no se respeta la libertad de información ni los Derechos Humanos.

THE PRODEIN AWARD GIVEN TO PEOPLE WHO STAND OUT IN DEFENSE OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND SUFFER PERSECUTION AS A RESULT OF THEIR ACTIVITIES
The Association PRODEIN presents an award to those people or groups who stand out in the struggle for human rights and who are persecuted in some way for taking such a position.
This award is not made on a periodic basis, but is made only on those occasions when one of our governments tries to hinder or prevent such activity by violent or criminal means.
The previous award (in 2004) was given to the Hermanas Vedrunas de Ceuta (Carmelite Sisters of Ceuta) for their brave support to migrants and unaccompanied minors arriving in the city, for which they had to bear unjustified institutional harassment.
The difficult situation facing Spanish media workers in Morocco has recently been made public, who like their Moroccan journalist colleagues, increasingly are faced with stiff fines and punishment, including prison sentences for exercising the freedom of expression.
For months now, we have known of the pressure, blackmail and threats made against Spanish journalists in Morocco, and that this pressure has been increasing exponentially to the point that some have faced attacks in their homes when their computers and documents were stolen, forced to make statements before the authorities, threats of expulsion, degrading treatment, etc.
For these reasons, and as a representative of the group of media workers who are persecuted in Morocco, we would like to give our 2008 award to CARLA FIBLA, the correspondent for La Vanguardia and La Cadena Ser.
Carla Fibla has spent years producing excellent work in Morocco, is today one of the professionals who is best acquainted with reality in Morocco and in the Maghreb, and is a person who loves the Moroccan people and contributes in an important way, without any trace of a doubt, to greater knowledge and understanding between people on both shores of the Mediterranean. For years, she has provided daily, objective information on important subjects such the reality of immigration in Morocco and the question of the Western Sahara, and has produced her work while in the midst of a hostile political system which does not respect the freedom of information nor human rights.
